PLANNING: ILLEGAL PASSPORTS & FIFTY POUND NOTES

Due to my previous research of illegal passports being made globally and how successful the 'underground', illegal businesses were in trafficking vulnerable, naïve and helpless families into countries such as the United Kingdom; we agreed that it would be important to make reference to this global trade in our film trailer.

HERE is my post on research I completed on illegal passports and the success of the trade.

From completing a trailer analysis of 5 different film trailers, I found that inspiration from these professional trailers would come in useful when deciding scenes for our film trailer that would successfully attract and address audiences with awe and spectacle.

Mini scene analysis from the film Legend

I completed a film trailer analysis of the film Legend - HERE is the link to a blog post on my trailer analysis.

Below is the film trailer of Legend - featuring the scene that I thought would be effective in my film trailer (skip to 01:11 - 01:14 to view scene).

I found that a scene in the trailer between the Kray twins and their gang emptying a large amount of money into a kitchen sink was effective in attracting and addressing audiences as it showed how successful their East London gangster trade was in making significant amounts of money. This made me as the audience feel in awe and spectacle of their success. I also felt that as they were emptying such as huge money out of a dark coloured, leather brief case the amount of money they were earning fast was 'easy money' that wasn't out of the norm for them to earn making the trade seem easily successful, dominating, revolutionary and effective in East London.

As a result of analysing the film trailer and making note of such as successful scene, I have realised that it would be appropriate to make reference to this or use this as inspiration in my film trailer. We have agreed that it would be appropriate for us to use the same theory of emptying a significant amount of money out of a leather brief case, however we will also be emptying illegal passports out of the brief case as well. This way we would be making reference to the illegal trafficking of migrants which is also extremely topical as it is of global significance at the moment, taking place in countries such as Greece, the UK and France.

I printed off photos of multiple (about 20 each) £50 notes and photocopied a British passport - using real photos would make our film trailer mise-en-scene look realistic and visually attractive in turn attracting and addressing the audience.
