RESEARCH: MASLOW'S THEORY OF NEEDS

In order to successfully plan my audience profile (reaching it to my target audience) I need to know who my specific audience is. I will acknowledge relevant aspects of my audience including age, gender, ethnicity and social class to suit my film trailer. I need to know what their media needs are so I can produce a product that they will want to purchase. I will also need to know how to reach my specific target audience in order to market my film opening to them. Therefore I will show how my research has impacted my planning.

I investigated the theory of Abraham Maslow - the audiences hierarchy of needs. Maslow's needs were published in 1943 paper Psychological Review as "A Theory of Human Motivation. By completing this research and presenting it on SlideShare, it will give me a better understanding of how audience react influencing me in how I will target my audience. It will allow me to understand how my target audience will enjoy my film, why they would want to watch it, what makes my film trailer different and how I will retain and appeal to the viewing needs of my target audience.

  1. A bit concise as so much is compressed that it is not made clear that there are diametrically opposed takes on the issue of audience reception (and is reception theory and Stuart Hall to be included?). I would like to discuss slide 3 in particular.
