I recently watched a tutorial about a thriller movie Drive and how they used different shots, following a technique called the quadrant system, to split up the shot into four sections. As my film opening is of the thriller genre I found this very interesting as I saw similarities.
Each section told a story; therefore telling four stories in one shot. This allows the audience to witness each character in the frames story offering depth to each shot and the story they are conveying.

By watching this video (as shown below), gave me inspiration to film a match-on-action shot in my film trailer and experiment with using a diverse range of shots. In the future I will definitely take the quadrant system into consideration as appears to be an effective technique.
A useful filming technique. Which part of your film will you use the quadrant system for?
ReplyDeleteI thought we could use it for the custody scene between Detective Giggs and Aaron. We have just filmed this scene so i will be talking about the Quadrant System in my next posts.
