I have been completing the fourth and final week of my FutureLearn film course on Digital Storytelling in association with the University of Birmingham. Since completing research on the Scandi Noir Genre I have been becoming more familiar with the genre and have been trying to watch texts of the genre such as film trailers, films, television trailers and television series. I have trying to interconnect and tie in my research and 'knowledge' of the Scandi Noir genre with my film course especially when being asked questions about what audiences' want and what makes a storyline special.
Getting involved in the discursive element of the course really interests me as I can share my views and answers to questions with people across the globe completing the same course as me; therefore they probably share the same interests as me. This is incredibly useful as through discussion new ideas can be made.
I am documenting my FutureLearn film course on my Twitter feed on the right hand side of my blog roll --> or HERE is a link to my Twitter page. I update my feed with information relating to the course every time I complete a step or week of my course. Once I have completed my course I will be able to buy a certificate of completion; I have previously completed a FutureLearn film course last year and bought a certificate of completion as well.
This weeks course covered the basics of editing and looking at publishing a story or text you have made (such as a film trailer or film opening) and sharing it with the world on social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I have clearly done this last year when I made a film opening for AS and this year when I am making my film trailer for A2 - both of these stages of the A level course entailed myself having to find out who my target audience is and attract and address them through codes and conventions in my film opening/film trailer as well as on social media platforms updating my target audience with 'snip its' or news feeds of information. We also looked at how to build the story in the editing stages and looking a particular theories and ideas about editing and how music can change the tone and feel of the film. We also looked a publishing work online, including tips on how to make your film successful on YouTube and explore how you can find your target audience in the 'digital space'.

Below are key aspects to consider when editing, especially when deciding who your target audience is. I have taken into account who my own target audience is by completing research and making a target audience profile.
HERE is a link to a blog post about how the research I completed when finding who my target audience for my film trailer were. I focussed on how other brands target their specific audience in turn successfully attracting and addressing them to buy or view their product.

This is an example of continuity editing - I will be making use of this when editing my film trailer |
HERE is a blog post I wrote on filming the custody scene for my film trailer. I was making use of continuity editing such as match on action shot and shot reverse shot. I also made use of the Quadrant System.
